When you need to say sorry properly

This is the one template where restraint is the entire design. There is no confetti, no celebratory motion, no decorative flourish anywhere on it — the palette is deliberately muted and the page is short. An apology that arrives with animation reads as a performance, and a performance is the opposite of what is being asked for.

It also puts the message second rather than last. Making someone scroll through a photo montage before reaching the point is a way of delaying the point. Say it first, then show whatever you are trying to remind them of.

What to write

Use these as they are, or as a running start. Every template also has a draft-it-for-me button if the words will not come.

  • Taking it plainly

I was wrong, and I knew it before you said anything. I am not going to explain it away. I am sorry, and I would like to fix it.
  • When you have hurt a friend

I have been avoiding this conversation for two weeks, which has made it worse. What I did was thoughtless. You did not deserve it and I would like to make it right.
  • When you need to give them room

You do not have to reply to this. I only wanted you to know that I understand what I did, and that I am sorry, and that I am here when you are ready.

Questions people actually ask

Is a page the right way to apologise?

Sometimes. It works when the conversation has stalled or you cannot be in the same room, and when you want to say something without demanding an immediate answer. It does not replace saying it out loud.

Can I leave the photos out?

Yes, and on this template photographs are switched off by default. You turn them on only if they help. Often the page is stronger without them.
